Dear Comanche School Family,
We approached the new school year with excitement and anticipation for what we thought would be much more “normal” than last year. Parents, staff, and students in this school district are and have always been, hard-working and dedicated. Our district has earned a reputation for being a place where we all pull together and support one another. During challenging times, that teamwork is even more important.
Unfortunately, COVID numbers in our district are on the rise. As of today, the district has 17 positive cases and 58 quarantines - many of those are due to household exposures and are not school-related. The pandemic has been difficult for everyone, and – sadly – it has also caused division.
Please know every safety protocol we have put in place is designed to protect the health and safety of our students and staff. We also want to ensure our students can experience in-person learning throughout the year. By implementing COVID mitigation strategies, we increase the likelihood this will be possible.
The CDC and health officials agree that quarantine of close contacts is an effective way to curb the spread of this virus. If students are exposed and quarantine is recommended by the health department, we will contact you and share quarantine information with you. If you have questions about the exposure or about the expectation to quarantine, please contact the Stephens County Health Department at 580.252.0270. Our school team is always available to assist you with general COVID-19 mitigation questions as well.
Our greatest priority is the safety of our students, staff, and community members, and we encourage you to follow the health department's guidance. However, we understand that we are somewhat limited in terms of our authority in these matters. We just ask that you cooperate with our efforts. Without that cooperation, we will reach a point where we won’t have enough faculty and staff to continue in-person learning. Please help us avoid that situation!
We are grateful for the opportunity to serve you and your family, especially as we face this difficult situation together.
Thank you for your support of Comanche Public Schools.
